Events at Elephant Butte Lake
Elephant Butte Lake hosts many exciting and unique events all year round. A few of the long-standing favorites are:
July 4th Fireworks (Summer)
Every year a dazzling fireworks show is put on at Elephant Butte Lake during the 4th of July weekend. The fireworks look almost as brilliant reflecting on the shimmering water as they do in the dark night sky. Lake-goers can observe the spectacular display from sandy shores or right out on the water from boats.
The show, always amazing, somehow manages to get better every year. You don't want to miss fireworks at "the Butte".

Balloon Regatta (Fall)
Colorful balloons and the scenic backdrop of Elephant Butte Lake combine once a year to create a truly magnificent display known as the Elephant Butte Balloon Regatta.
The balloons typically fly from sunrise to early afternoon, but the event continues even during the night with the peaceful Night Glow. Pilots and visitors gather around and socialize as the balloons glow in the twilight like giant candles.
The Balloon Regatta is held the 2nd weekend of September at Elephant Butte Lake, New Mexico.
Floating Lights Parade (Winter)
Although the lake is too cold for swimming during winter months, lake activities continue full force. Boat owners dedicate much effort, time, and ingenuity into decorating boats of all sizes and shapes with Christmas lights (and other holiday decorations). All the hard work pays off as the night comes alive with thousands of twinkling lights in this breathtaking festivity.
Closely partnered with the Floating Lights Parade is the Elephant Butte Luminaria Walk. 
Thousands of luminarias line pathways winding along the sandy beaches of Elephant Butte Lake. Periodic campfires are located along the paths and provide an opportunity to warm up and meet new or old friends.
Both exciting and serene, the floating lights parade and luminaria walk is a highly recommended event to celebrate the season with.
The Floating Lights Parade and Luminaria Walk are typically held early in December.
Other Events
Other events at Elephant Butte Lake include sailboat regattas, drag boat races, fishing tournaments, and outdoor concerts.
